A French drain runs beneath the entire perimeter of the basement’s floor as a continuous piping system. Although the installation of a French drain is similar to that of a sump but following are the measures to take in order to install it effectively and professionally:
- Cutting and eliminating basement floor’s strip approximately 12″ wide and alongside basement’s complete perimeter
- Plowing a 12″ deep ditch
- Filling the trench with rough grit surrounding the drain pipe
- Re-wetting a concrete floor for covering all of it
- A sump and pump included in it as an indispensable part to remove if water enters the drain system.
